Just a Quick Note

Hi fam! Since my digital camera is temporarily out of order, I don't have much to post here. I found this fun old picture on my friend's camera, and thought I would put them up. I love you guys!

Thats me in the back, Sebora (Libby's friend), Libby (a very good friend who is leaving in March for America), bo, erich, and Stacey (they are all leaving in march as well).

Hope you all are well. -Rach

The Pupster

Hi Fam! So here is the much awaited picture of Rabbit, the bouncing bundle of canine joy who brightens all my days :)

Compared to his litter mates he is really big and shiny, probably due to my excessive TLC. The other day I saw he was limping and looked at his foot and found literally 12 ticks all clustered in one paw, so now I do daily tick sweeps.

Here is a picture of my front yard, my kitchen, my drying rack, and Rabbit asleep in the shade. Every night tons of goats come and sleep in my kitchen, which I love. I think its because every other family throws rocks at them to keep them out, but I don't, so they feel safe. Its hilarious to watch the goat antics- actually, now that I think about it, thats probably one clear sign that you have been in the village a while. Completely amused by watching goats.

And even though I think its really emabarassing to post pictures of myself, I wanted to show the fam how blond my hair has gotten. Mom now you have two blond daughters- crazzzzy!

Alright I love you all! Rach

Whats Up Fam and Friends!

I am in town for a workshop, so I thought I would show you a little more of my village :). The past few weeks have been amazingly great- just feeling so comfortable there and really having a good time. SO I am blessed as usual to be where I am. I love all of you guys who are reading this and miss you :)

This is home sweet home. That stoop is usually occupied by kids unless i chase them away because I need a minute to myself.

This is one of the above mentioned kids, Vero. SHe is super cute and really composed for her age, which is between 2 and 3. ALl the other kids her age are always screaming or crying, but she is always so sweet and composed. She was hanging out at my house the other day and she cut her finger so it started bleeding badly. She just looked at it for one second and I though she was going to cry, but then she took this long breath, composed herself, and excused herself to go home. I love her.

This is the view into my hut from the door. There is just a hallway type thing to my immediate right, and where those curtains are is the opening to my bedroom. That little girl is named Susan, and I was reading Newsweek (which PC GIVES us- how great!) while she was coloring with pen on Newsweek... good times :)

And here is a pic of me and Nicole, who is in Eastern with me and one of my closest friends here. We both look extra tan bc we just spent a day at a swimming pool!

Alright I love you all, talk to you soon :)

Pigs and Kids

Hey fam! Here are just a few pics of some things in Africa.... I will take some more pictures of my hut and post them next time. I actually had to stay in Chipata an extra day, so I was able to upload these pics, but now I am really am going back out to the bush.
This is Matthews, the little boy who lives in the hut you can see behind him. My hut is to the immediate left of him... we are sitting in its shade. My hut looks the same style as the one in the background, but a little smaller and without the nice plants on the front stoop. Matthews is super cute, as you can see.

These are the homemade shelves I wrote you guys about! I have another one in my bedroom for my clothes... and ask you can see, I have started to decorate. All the villagers are very intrigues by the "snaps" from America and come in the house all the time to look at them. Oh, and thats my sweet
mountain bike under the shelf.

And these are some of the many animals that are constantly in my backyard. I am sitting on my stoop taking this picture, literally two feet from these piglets. The piglets espcially crack me up, as in this picture when the three of them are wrestling. Mom I though you would appreciate that there are three of them haha.

Alright thats it for now... next time I will take some more shots of my own hut. Love you all! Rach
